Rivermark Village is a bustling community shopping center in Santa Clara right off the Montague Expressway. The center includes a Safeway grocery store (that Bigham Taylor roofed in 2023), dentist offices, restaurants, salons, and retail stores across seven buildings on the property.
The opportunity to work at the Rivermark property came a couple of years ago when a consultant put the projects out to bid. Bigham Taylor earned the work based on experience, expertise, and reputation.
BT’s crew completed the building that houses Chipotle, Supercuts, Verizon, FedEx, and Meet Fresh Santa Clara in December 2024.
As with all BT projects, this one started with the all-important preconstruction meeting between our team, the tenants, and building management. “It’s essential to have open lines of communication,” reports Senior Project Manager Travis Cleland, “especially when you’re working on a building with multiple tenants when we’re going to be making noise and setting up above their business.”

The work at the 3952-3966 building included tearing off asphalt shingles on the high-walls and overlaying the main flat portion of the existing roofing system.
“That’s a busy center that’s landlocked with pedestrian walkways, parking and driveways all around the buildings,” Travis says. “There are a lot of cars and pedestrians that we needed to be aware of and keep safe. Plus, we had to get materials in and debris out without interrupting the flow of business. So, we rolled our trucks in super early in the morning to get that done before things got busy.”
As soon as the crew began adhering the Carlisle 115-mil FleeceBACK TPO membrane with Flexible FAST Adhesive, communication to the restaurants in the building became more important because of the potential of odor and noise.
“We recommended that they get their HVAC people out there to turn off their systems as needed,” Travis explains. “Even as we tried to do all that work early in the morning not to disrupt them too much, it was important to keep their businesses running.”
The managers of the business and the property owners recognized the strengths of BT’s communications through regular conversations with on-site superintendent Naum Zelaya and the delivery of regular project updates that show progress via photos and videos.
“This high-quality report significantly enhances the overall quality and demonstrates your commitment to excellence in service,” wrote Vestar’s Operations Manager, Dante Clement. “Thanks again for a job well done.”
