Right off Highway 92, between Highway 880 and the San Mateo Bridge, sits a handful of industrial buildings housing construction companies, beer distributors, storage facilities, and mechanics.
When the BT team pulled into 25880 Clawiter Road in Hayward, they found a relatively busy site and an old BUR flat roof that needed replacing.
At the same time, a handful of things went their way—a vacant half of the building where they could stage the gear and materials, a fair amount of space to set up a removal site, and good weather.
As the tear-off progressed, the crew found some other good news—there were just a few spots of dry rot on the deck that were easy to replace and move on, and there were only three air conditioning units on the roof that needed to be worked around.
As part of the re-roof project, BT replaced the skylights, sheet metal flashing, scuppers, and scupper drains since they were as old as the initial roofing system.
BT Superintendent Jose Reyes, Jr. said it was a reasonably straightforward project from tear-off to re-roof. “The old roof came off pretty easy, and we installed a Jones Manville 60-mil TPO over a ½” ISO board.”
Once the crew wrapped up the project, another beverage distribution company moved into the space.
